Herpetology Life List

This is my attempt at keeping a life list of reptiles and amphibians (the study of which is called herpetology) I have identified. At this point it’s a photo life list, since I have little skill at identifying herps in the field, and rely on photos for confirmation. Maybe that will change, but for now — this is a start. Since this is *my* list, I make the rules… You may see some dead specimens shown / listed here. I’m going to include deceased and/or ill wild-found specimen on my “life list” — at least for now. If you spot a mis-ID, please contact me or leave a comment on this page.

    hi —

thanks for posting such cool pics. i am from new hampshire and will be visiting family next week in lake wales. we’re planning a trip to circle b bar reserve and i am hoping to see pygmy rattlers. tho any snakes will be great since all i ever see up here is garters. any tips on where i could get some good shots of pygmys?

  2. Amy says:

Hi Kyle, thank for visiting my blog. I have to admit that I haven’t really been herping — all of the creatures photographed here were found by happenstance (usually while birding). I’m sorry I don’t have any advice regarding pygmys. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip! Circle B is great, I wish I could get out there more often. 🙂

cool pics…I’m in Ormond Beach…. Was learning about Cuban Treefrogs and what evasive means when I happened upon your site. The expression on the American Alligator. It’s either funny or scarey. thanks

(oops) Invasive (they’re not evasive at all)
