Following my 2011 BIGBY list, where I topped out at 88 species, I thought it would be fun to again keep track of the bird species I’m able to find without the use of fossil fuels. The term BIGBY was first coined to describe a fossil-free big year, but now is used widely to describe any birding done without motorized support. Besides back yard visitors, I hope to rack up species at Gemini Springs and a few other spots that I reach by bicycle. My target is 100 species.
